Top 10 Most Awesome Movie Death Scenes

April 27, 2009

Classic movies are quoted daily, by people all over the world. Considering how mentally maladjusted myself and most of my friends are, we tend to quote from death scenes, or at least from movies that involve lots of killing. To celebrate our twisted idea of entertainment, here is my list of the top 10 coolest deaths and murders in movies.

1. The axe-murder of Paul Allen in American Psycho

“Try getting a reservation at Dorsia now, you fucking stupid bastard!”

2. Private Pyle’s murder/suicide from Full Metal Jacket

“I am. In a world. Of shit.”

3. The Mexican standoff at the end of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

“You see in this world, there’s two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.”

4. Fredo’s murder in The Godfather, Part II

“Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners…BANG”

5. The murder of Eli Sunday by way of bowling pin in There Will Be Blood

“I drink your milkshake!”

6. The execution of William Wallace in Braveheart

“Freedom!”

7. Nicky kills a random guy at a bar in Casino by stabbing him in the neck, with his own pen

“Is this your pen?”

8. Cheryl gets raped by a tree (technically doesn’t die until later, but I make the rules) in The Evil Dead

“ahhh, Ahhhhh, AHHHHH!”

9. Samuel L. shoots Brett, but not before reciting Ezekial 25:17, in Pulp Fiction

“English mother-fucker, DO YOU SPEAK IT?”

10. Sal gets one between the eyes in the finale of Dog Day Afternoon

[Note] This scene was added simply so that this could be the only blog post to ever have two separate videos of John Cazale being shot in the head. History has been made.

And there you have it. Tell me which movie deaths you like the most…

Reading your blog as promised. Nice list overall. Not sure about Pulp Fiction over deaths like Howard Beale in Network, Billy and Wyatt in Easy Rider, Tommy in Goodfellas, Bonnie and Clyde…off the top of my head. A strong list though.

Sleeper pick for you to think about as we discussed it a while ago… Damion in Wind that shakes the Barley?

Yeah I didn’t think about Network, that woulda been a good one. I did consider Easy Rider and Wind that Shakes the Barley, but they were both too sad in my opinion. I wanted death scenes that I thought were bad ass. Bonnie and Clyde would have also been a good one to put in there.

I figured I couldn’t have more than one Scorsese so I went with Casino cause its more original, I mean who kills someone with their own pen?

How could you not put in Samuel L. Jackson’s death scene in Deep Blue Sea? Best. Death. Scene. Ever.
